The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a book that talks about a 15 years old boy that struggles with depression. The story portrays the illness in a way that feels real, showing how it affects the life of a teenager. Throughout the book, Charlie, the main character, meets Patrick and Sam who are two seniors that study in the same high school as him. The 3 of them become friends and have a lot of fun together. Charlie has to deal with a lot of issues: his best friend commited suicide, he was abused by his aunt as a child, his sister is in a toxic relationship and Charlie is worried about her.
This is my favorite book, it’s very emotional and always makes me cry; the characters are very relatable, it doesn't matter how old you are, what your culture, race, gender and sexuality is. You will certainly understand what they are going trough and how confused they are.
